One night a customer called in with one of those big projections tvs that used to be popular. After a few years the lamp and ballast would fail. And it was considered a consumable, not covered under warranty.

My coworker got the call and was explaining this to the guy and he went OFF on her. He just screamed at her. Well the supervisor was sick that night so I decided to play supervisor and took the call. While he continued to scream and berate me, I

just kept calmly repeating the terms and services paragraph regarding consumable items. He eventually hung up on me and called back, getting a coworker two desks away. I

immediately take over again and tell him again his issue isn't covered. Click. New coworker, repeat. I took over his call 6 times in a row. Heavily noted his account.

In the end he was burnt out like a toddler in a temper tantrum. I managed to get him to look. at the warranty brochure with the T&C in the back. He grumbled a few more immature insults based on nothing and hung up for the last time.

I popped into his account from time to time but he never called back. Two hours of screaming at total strangers. Other peoples kids. I'm tellin ya.

iamthekingofthishill 1 day ago . Offer the sale, on the parts he needed. Or provide referrals that he can call. Just telling him "ya ain't covered boss" is understandably frustrating for a guy who can't watch the TV he bought and paid additional warranty on. It's not a solution.

gtajeep OP 1 day ago Not my job to sell hit. I offered the number of several repair centers in his area. He just wanted it covered and was immediately irate and offensive to my coworkers and myself. You act like a bratty child, you don't get what you want.

There was no bending rules, I wasn't in sales. If he hadn't been rude and called me names George Carlin would be proud of, I would have done everything in my power to help. (Even though there is nothing to do)

fabulousfantabulist 16 hr. ago Warranty is a yes/no question. The answer was no and that was explained to him. After that, his childish behavior justified the treatment he got. No one owes you hit, and entitled people thinking that service folk are punching bags deserve things even less than the decent customers.
